ABOUT
Vincent Alwyn Hughes
The Acoustic Performer
A Lifelong Musician who has been playing guitar and performing since the 1960s, with his friends at school. Since then, he has performed both solo and in groups, and in many and varying kinds of venues throughout North Wales and the North-West, accumulating over 50 years' worth performing experience.
—Vince has been a Singer/Songwriter for about as long, and is also the Founder and Producer of Eirianlys Music [Studio], as well as the principal Guitarist, Songwriter and Performer.
Vincent has performed in groups and as a soloist, in various venues - with his old music friends from school: both as teens and as adults in pubs and clubs, at folk nights in clubs, in folk clubs, and even as a duo with his daughter, DelphineMusic - a Classically Trained Soprano, Musical Theatre Performer & Dark Electro-Synth Singer/Songwriter in her own right.
He very much enjoys playing the music of his own childhood and youth, from the 1950s & 60s - particularly The Beatles and Folk Songs - the most, as well as his own music. However, he can learn new songs quickly, adding different songs and music to his repertoire all the time.
His music skill has always been self-taught, and he's enjoyed learning how to play these instruments - in fact he has found that there is no musical instrument that he's come across that he can't play, with string instruments being his favourite.
To date, he has played Acoustic & Electric Guitars, Piano & Keyboards, The Ukulele, The Banjolele, The Banjo, The Harp, The Harmonica, The Gazoo - and continues looking out for more challenges within music, and more interesting instruments to learn...
The more different or obscure the better!

Meet "The Team"
The instruments I bring with me are My Team, comprising of a Ukulele, A Banjolele and Acoustic Guitar
I also have a lovely Fender Acoustasonic 15 Acoustic Combo Amp to play them trough, to give them, and me, the best tone and hear me in all areas of the venue spaces!

Ukulele
Contrary to some assumptions or jokes, the Ukulele is not, in fact a "baby guitar"(!). The Ukulele is a string instrument in its own right and plays quite differently to the guitar. It is a small stringed instrument that's a part of the Lute Family and made infamous as being an instrument made popular in Hawaii.
This is an instrument I've only recently taken up playing and I was inspired by my six-year-old granddaughter, who's school had offered ukulele lessons to their pupils, and I wanted to play along with her!

Acoustic Guitar
Acoustic Guitars are quite different to Electric Guitars, and not just because you don't have to plug them into something to make them work. Most people who play guitars play acoustic guitars, which work because the vibrations of the strings resonate through the body of it through the hole in the middle. This tone and simplicity of playing is the reason I tend to be far more partial to acoustic string instruments than electric ones.
I've been playing guitars of all kinds since I started high school, from around 12 or 13 years old, in the 1960s with my school friends, and I've been performing with guitars ever since. I even still occasionally play and record music with some of the same friends even now!

Banjolele
This is technically named The Banjo Ukulele, or Banjo Uke. But Banjolele, quite frankly, sounds a lot better!
The Banjolele was made famous by, and most probably best known as the favourite instrument of, the fantastic George Formby. Other famous people who play(ed) it are Brian May of Queen, George Harrison of The Beatles, and Peter Sellers (actor).
The instrument composition is just as it sounds - a hybrid of a banjo and ukulele. After learning the Ukulele for a few months, I wanted to push my learning (and playing!) further, and so I added the Banjolele to my repertoire and range of instruments.
